Helisking

Heli Skiing gives us the chance to ski in one day, what would otherwise take 2 to 3 days. Switzerland is one of the only places in Europe where we can Heliski. And Verbier is the perfect place to start from.

We fly right from the piste to the peak, making any day ripe for a quick change of scene. All the powder next to the piste may be tracked within hours of the lifts opening. But a quick flight to the top of the Petit Combin or Trient Plateau gives us access to thousands of acres of fresh snow.
The relative low cost of this adventure puts Heliskiing well within the reach of most skiers. Helicopter Service charges us SFr.185.00/person for this wild ride. The we even get to ski down! What a bonus!!! And what fun it is to debate whether or not we are inflicting great damage to our planet by flying around in these great machines...

In March of 2003, we did what for me, was the ultimate heliski week. Using local helicopter companies and lifts, we went into, then back out of, the Bernese Oberland. We skied from the French speaking to the German speaking part of Switzerland. We stayed in nice hotels in the classic Swiss resorts. We skied down remote valleys in 35cm of fresh snow, not seeing any signs of other people.

The trips I do to Greenland offer incredible opportunities for those looking for something extra special. The cultural experience can not be beaten. We live right with the locals, and get to each one of them. Needless to say, with access to your own heli for 1 week, gives you certain advantages. The photos do speak for themselves!
